After you have requested the prefill data, you will receive a code from the tax authorities by post to confirm the data retrieval. You can enter this code in the Taxfix app within 90 days. This activates the data retrieval and gives us permission to prefill your tax return for you.
Once you have activated the data retrieval by entering the code, it is generally valid indefinitely. You can use it for past and all future tax years and do not have to apply for it again every year. The retrieved data is automatically made available to you.
The unlimited validity of the prefill data is determined by the tax authorities - we at Taxfix have no influence on this.
However, you can simply cancel the prefilled tax return if you no longer wish to use it. To do so, simply open the account menu at the top right of the Taxfix app and select "Prefill data consent" -> "Cancel prefill request".
If you make a joint assessment with your partner, it is necessary to cancel the prefill data for both partners.
