How do I get my activation code?
Once you request tax office data in the Taxfix app, we forward the request to the tax authorities. You will receive your activation code by mail within two weeks.
In the case of joint assessment, each partner receives a separate letter with their own code.

Haven’t received your activation code? Here’s what to do!
If you have not received a code after about two weeks, your address may be incorrectly registered with the tax office. This is how you proceed:
- Check and update your details with the tax office if necessary.

Reset your request in the Taxfix app:
- Open the account menu (top right in the app).
- Select "Pre-filled tax return" → "Cancel request."
- Request a new activation code. - Joint filing? Both partners must request a new code.
- Wait for the new code: It will arrive within two weeks via mail.
ELSTER users: Can I use the pre-filled tax return with Taxfix?
Unfortunately, no. ELSTER users cannot currently link the pre-filled tax return (VaSt) with Taxfix.
Alternative: Manually enter your tax data in the app – you can still complete your tax return without issues. We are working on integrating ELSTER in the future!
Joint filing: Important notes for couples
👥 Each partner receives their own activation code – both codes must be entered in the app.
⏳ Only one code arrived? No problem! The tax office may take up to two weeks to send both codes.
🔄 Still no code after three weeks? You need to cancel both existing requests and request new activation codes.
💡 Tip: Double-check your personal details (name, date of birth, tax ID) before submitting a new request.
