The code has no effect on tax returns that you have already submitted to the tax office. However, you can use it to activate prefill data for future tax years.
If you have already submitted your tax return to the tax office, the activation code (Freischaltcode) is not relevant for this return. It therefore has no effect on the processing by the tax office - they will deal with your submitted tax return as usual and issue your tax statement. Experience shows that this usually takes 6 to 12 weeks.
You can see whether your return has been successfully submitted to the tax office in the overview of tax years by a green tick next to the corresponding tax return.
The activation code was sent to you because you requested prefill data in the Taxfix app. The tax offices store various data that are electronically transmitted to them by employers and insurance providers. You can automatically transfer this data to your tax return with the help of prefill data.
