The peak season at the tax office is typically in the first quarter of the year, especially in March and April.
ππΌ Be warned: it is quite possible that tax office processing may take longer than usual during this time.
This is because many people submit their tax returns during this period and the workload increases. During this peak season, the tax office receives a large number of documents and has to process them. The statutory submission deadlines for citizens also play a role here.
Of course, we cannot predict exactly how long it will take the tax office to process your tax return. Experience has shown that it can usually take around 6-12 weeks before you receive your tax assessment notice in the post.
π‘ If processing takes longer than approx. 16 weeks, you can enquire about the status of your tax return at your local tax office. You can find out how best to do this here.
