In general, of course, you can submit a tax return even if you have not paid any income tax and have no tax-deductible expenses.
The only question is: Is it worth it for you?
A tax return is submitted for one of the following reasons:
- There is a legal obligation to file, e.g. due to income with certain tax classes, receipt of wage replacement benefits, etc. (goal: fulfil obligation)
- You wish to report to the tax office that, in view of your own income and tax-deductible costs, there was an overpayment of wage and/or income tax ( goal: tax refund)
- You wish to have the tax office establish that you had higher tax-relevant costs than income, e.g. due to a second degree or further training ( goal: loss carryforward)
Our partner tax advisory firms will check your documents and details very carefully!
Please ensure that you provide all information in its entirely in the app.
For example, possible additional income is also taken into account in the expected calculation of your tax result. For this reason, it is very important that you submit the relevant documents and information directly.
What happens if I haven't paid any income tax and have no tax deductions?
If the Expert determines that you have not paid any income tax and also had no or almost no tax-deductible expenses and therefore neither a tax refund nor a loss carryforward is possible, your order for the Expert Service will be cancelled as a matter of goodwill.
In this case, the result of your tax return would be €0. Even an Expert cannot achieve a different, better result. If there is also no obligation to submit the tax return, it will be cancelled.
🚨 Important: All information you receive from our Experts is based on the details and documents you submit via our app.
Do I still have to pay the fee for the Expert Service?
No. As your order is cancelled as a matter of goodwill, you will not be charged any fees.
