Why is there no refund?
Not everyone who submits a tax return automatically receives a refund. The tax office reviews your information and calculates whether you have overpaid or possibly underpaid your taxes.
Possible reasons for a different calculation:
π New tax laws: Changes in regulations or new laws can affect your tax burden.
π Changes in income: A higher or lower income results in a different calculation.
π Different deductible expenses or lump sums: If you claimed fewer expenses this year, your refund may be lower. The tax office can only refund taxes that were actually paid throughout the year. Expenses and lump sums reduce taxable income, but if little or no taxes were paid, no refund is possible.
Why does the Taxfix calculation differ?
With Taxfix, you can calculate in advance whether you can expect a refund. However, differences between our calculation and the tax assessment may occur.
π Common reasons for discrepancies:
- The tax office does not accept certain details or applies different values.
- Data from previous years or external information is included, which Taxfix does not have.
- Special tax regulations or allowances are calculated differently.
Differences from the previous year β why this can be normal
Your tax refund is different from last year? This is not unusual. Various factors such as changes in income, adjusted tax allowances, or new legal regulations can lead to a different calculation. A discrepancy does not necessarily mean a mistake. If you are unsure, it is worth taking a closer look at your tax assessment and comparing it with previous years.
Long waiting times for the tax assessment?
The tax office usually takes 6 to 12 weeks to process your tax return. If it takes longer, you can call to check the status or send a written reminder. Many tax offices also offer contact forms on their websites. In the submission report, you can find out which tax office received your return.
