How long does it take for the tax office to process the tax return?

When Will the Tax Assessment Notice Arrive?

The exact processing time of your tax return at the tax office cannot be predicted. Based on experience, you usually receive your tax assessment notice within 6 to 12 weeks.

ℹ️ Important note: If you submit your tax return at the beginning of the year, the processing may take longer. The tax offices only start processing in mid-March, as employers and health insurance providers have until February 28 to submit their data to the tax office. Additionally, tax changes at the beginning of the year must be integrated into the tax office's system.

Check the Status of Your Tax Return in the Taxfix App

You can check the current status of your tax return in the Taxfix app at any time. Here’s how:

🔍 How to check the status:

1. Open the Taxfix app and log in.
2. Select the tax year by clicking on "View".
3. View status – Here you can see the current progress of your tax return.

💡 If you see the symbol ✅, your tax return has been submitted. If you don't see the symbol, your return hasn't been submitted yet. Please double-check your information and ensure you've completed all necessary steps.

😎 Everything in one place: The expected result will be displayed. You can also view and download the submitted PDF file. If you scroll further down, you will find a detailed breakdown of the result under "More info", along with the contact details of your tax office.

⚠️ Important to know: Once your return is being processed by the tax office, we cannot track the exact status, as this is an internal process of the tax office. We only receive an electronic notification when your tax assessment notice has been issued.

   3. Click on "Contact tax office".
   4. Choose whether you want to contact them by email or phone.

📞 Phone contact: Use the information we provide to ensure the tax office can quickly identify your tax return.

✉️ Contact via email: You can attach your tax return directly to the email.

Download Your Tax Return as a PDF Document

If you contact the tax office via email, you can attach your tax return as a PDF. Here’s how:

1. Open your Taxfix account.
2. Select the tax year for which you submitted your tax return.
3. Click on "View tax return" or "View submitted PDF".

💡 Note: The document may be labeled "Not for the tax office." You can ignore this! This label only indicates that the submission has already been made electronically. You can still send the document to your tax office as a reference.
