With each new tax year, you have full flexibility with Taxfix: You can either choose the Expert Service or complete your tax return yourself using the app or browser. Switching is possible under certain conditions – here’s how it works.

Switching between doing it yourself and using the Expert Service is possible as long as the submission has not yet been made.

Once your return has been submitted to the tax office, a switch is no longer possible.

How to change to the Expert Service
👉 You’ve already started your tax return but haven’t submitted it yet?
If you haven’t submitted your return yet (i.e. no payment or identity verification completed), you can easily switch to the Expert Service:

Go to the overview of tax years.

Select the relevant year.

Scroll down in the category view to the gray box “Help from a tax advisor?”

Tap on “Learn more” and then on “Change service.”
⚠️ Switching will delete all data you’ve already entered for that tax year.
💡 If you’ve selected the Expert Service but want to switch back immediately, tap “Continue” and then “Change service.” If this option is not shown, please use the mobile app or update your browser.

👉 You’ve already submitted your tax return yourself?
In this case, switching is only conditionally possible. Our support team will need to check whether your data has already been transmitted to the tax office.
Please send us an email as soon as possible to support@taxfix.de. If the transmission can still be stopped, you’ll receive a cancellation confirmation, and you’ll then be able to use the Expert Service for that year.
How to remove the Expert Service and complete your return yourself
Already started answering questions for the expert?
As long as your booking is not yet complete (i.e. your data hasn’t been handed over yet), you can remove the Expert Service yourself:

Open the overview of tax years.

Select the relevant tax year.
- In the browser: Click “Change service” on the left and confirm the change.
- In the mobile app: Tap the question mark or message icon at the top right. In the next view, select “Change service.”

💡 Our app is updated regularly. Look for icons like “?” or “💬”. Make sure you are using the latest app version.
After changing, you can once again complete your tax return yourself.
Already handed over your return to the expert?
If your booking is complete, the legal 14-day cancellation period from the date of booking applies.
Please send your cancellation request within this period by email to our support team: support@taxfix.de. Our team will review your request and get back to you.
