Why is an ID required?
Before we can work on your tax return, we are legally required to verify your identity. This protects your data and ensures that only you can access your return.
What to do if you don’t have one?
If you currently don’t have a valid ID, please apply for one as soon as possible at your local authority office (e.g. city hall).
Also let us know by email if your documents are still being processed. We can then pause the identification process for you. Once you receive your ID, let us know – then you can verify your identity and we’ll start your tax return.

How does the verification work?
Verification is quick and easy:
- Take photos of your ID (front and back).
- Record a short selfie video.
- Our partner service checks your information.

What if mobile verification doesn’t work?
If you’re having trouble with verification, first check whether you’ve allowed camera access for the Taxfix app – this is required for identification.
Also make sure you’re using the latest version of the app, and restart it afterwards. If it still doesn’t work, you can email us your ID. That way, we can still verify your identity and move forward with your tax return.
