Payments from VG Wort are considered income from self-employment for tax purposes. You can declare this income in the Taxfix app, provided you use the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmerregelung).
📌 Quick & Easy
- VG Wort payments are treated as self-employed income.
- You can record this income if you are registered with the tax office as a small business owner (Kleinunternehmer).
- Self-employed persons with VAT obligations (so-called standard taxation or Regelversteuerung) cannot use the app yet.
🚀 Your Guide
- What is VG Wort?
- When can I use Taxfix for this?
- When is it not (yet) supported and what can I do instead?
What is VG Wort?
VG Wort is a collecting society that manages copyrights for authors. If you are registered there, you receive payments – for example, for published texts. This income may be subject to tax.
Why doesn't this work with Taxfix?
Payments from VG Wort count as income from self-employment for tax purposes. We support this type of income under one specific condition: You are a small business owner (Kleinunternehmer).
This means you have applied for the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmerregelung) at your tax office and do not charge VAT on your invoices.
When is it not (yet) supported and what can I do instead?
If you are subject to standard taxation (Regelversteuerung) – meaning you show VAT on your invoices and submit advance VAT returns – we cannot currently cover your tax case.
In this case, you can submit your tax return via ELSTER or with the support of a tax advisor.
💡 Good to know: We are working on supporting self-employed persons subject to standard taxation, likely starting next year.
