What is the retirement relief amount?
The retirement relief amount is a tax-free allowance for people who have reached a certain age and, for example, receive income from capital gains or self-employment. This relief reduces the tax burden – but only for specific types of income. Pensions and retirement payments are not included.
Who qualifies for the retirement relief?
You are entitled to the retirement relief if you were at least 64 years old on January 1st of the tax year. It applies to income such as:
- Business income
- Self-employment
- Rental and leasing income
-
Capital gains (if taxable)
Why isn't it included in the app?
The Taxfix app currently does not calculate the retirement relief amount automatically. That means it's not reflected in your calculated tax result.
What does this mean for your tax result?
If you qualify for the retirement relief, there's nothing else you need to do: The tax office will apply it automatically.
This means that your official tax result may be higher than the one shown in our app, because the relief is not included in our calculation.
