If you are self-employed or run a business, you are required to submit your profit determination electronically to the tax office. With Taxfix, you can digitally create your revenue-surplus calculation (EΓR) and your trade tax return.
π Quick & Easy
Know the limits: Use the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmerregelung) if your previous year's turnover was below β¬25,000 and will not exceed β¬100,000 in the current year.
Easy data entry: Activate your activity under the "About you" section and enter your income and expenses step by step.
Supported forms: Taxfix calculates your profit and generates the revenue-surplus calculation (EΓR), the trade tax return, and the "Anlage G" or "S" for you.
π Your Guide
What is the small business regulation?
Being a small business owner (Kleinunternehmer) makes your life as a self-employed person easier. From 2025 onwards, you benefit from this regulation if your turnover in the previous year was under β¬25,000 and will not exceed β¬100,000 in the current year.
You don't have to include VAT on your invoices and are exempt from regular VAT advance notifications (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung). Since you cannot claim back VAT paid on your purchases, you simply record your expenses in Taxfix as gross amounts.
What Taxfix supports β and what it doesnβt
With Taxfix, you can create your revenue-surplus calculation (EΓR) and trade tax return for sole traders and freelancers starting from the 2025 tax year.
However, there are currently some cases we cannot cover yet:
Companies with employees
Managing multiple businesses or closing a business
Agriculture, forestry, and commercial livestock breeding
Special cases like the reverse-charge procedure or futures trades
π‘ Good to know: If you are a co-entrepreneur, you can record your personal share of the profit directly in the app. Taxfix does not yet support the separate and uniform determination return (gesonderte und einheitliche Feststellung) for the business as a whole.
How to enter your activity in Taxfix
You can activate your self-employed activity with just a few clicks. Simply go to the "About you" section and select "Freelance / business" when asked about your activities.
The app will then guide you step-by-step through all questions regarding your income and expenses. Based on your details, we automatically calculate your profit and generate the necessary forms for your tax office.
Which costs are tax-deductible?
Every business-related expense reduces your profit and thus your tax burden. Since you are not entitled to deduct input tax as a small business owner, you enter all costs as gross amounts.
Deductible costs include:
Workplace & Tech: Home office allowance, office rent, laptop, and software.
Mobility: Travel costs to clients and business trips.
Running Costs: Telephone, insurance, and depreciation (AfA).
Services: Marketing, further training, as well as legal and tax advice.
What applies to VAT?
Due to the small business regulation, you are exempt from submitting an annual VAT return. This is because you do not charge VAT on your invoices and, in return, do not claim any input tax.
π‘ Are you using standard taxation? We are working hard on the annual VAT return for you. However, you can already handle your advance VAT notifications for 2026 relaxed and easy via the app or web!
