When will I receive my tax assessment?
The time your tax office takes to process your tax return can vary. Based on experience, it typically takes about 6–12 weeks for you to receive your tax assessment by mail.
💡 Important: If you submit your tax return early in the year, processing often doesn't start until mid-March.
If you've been waiting longer, you can directly ask the tax office about the status. 💡 Find out how here: Proof of submission
When will I get the money from the tax office?
If the tax office finds you've paid too much tax, you'll receive a refund. This refund is usually transferred to your bank account at the same time as your tax assessment.
💡 Good to know: Sometimes, the money may already be in your account before you receive the tax assessment by mail.
If your tax assessment has arrived but the money is missing, you should expect the transfer within a few days. If it takes longer, there are a few things you can check.
What to do in case of delays?
If you haven't received your money after several days, check the following:
👉 Is your IBAN correct? On your tax assessment, you'll find the account number to which the tax office sends the refund. If there's an error or typo, immediately contact your tax office.
👉 Ask the tax office: If it's taking unexpectedly long, you can inquire about the status of your payment.
How do I check if the tax office received my tax return?
If you're not receiving feedback from the tax office, you can verify if your tax return has been received.
🔍 Here's how to find your tax office contact details:
➡️ Open your Taxfix account, select the respective tax year, and click "Contact the tax office."

🔍 Check the transmission protocol:
The transmission protocol serves as proof that your tax return was successfully sent to the tax office. If your tax office claims they haven't received your tax return, you can use this proof.
File an objection if the tax office denies receipt
If you've received a reminder regarding a supposedly missing tax return even though you submitted it via Taxfix, you can file an objection. Ideally, include the transmission protocol as evidence.
👉 Template for an objection letter to the tax office:
