Verify your identity
🆔 Upload a document to verify your identity – for example, your ID card. This is required to ensure your tax return is submitted securely.
Submit your return
📤 With one click on “Submit”, your return is sent to the tax office. We automatically check it beforehand for completeness and plausibility. After successful transmission, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
Check your status
🔎 You can check the processing status of your tax return at any time in the app. As soon as your tax assessment is available, we’ll notify you by email and show the result in the app.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I skip questions if I don't have certain information?
Usually, this situation doesn’t occur. The app only shows you the categories and questions that are actually relevant – based on your answers in the first category “About You”. There, you determine which areas apply to your tax return with just a few details.
What if I don’t have certain documents on hand?
In many cases, you can indicate that you want to submit the information later – for example, via email to our customer service. Alternatively, you can enter values manually. 💡 For such cases, we recommend the pre-filled tax return, where we retrieve data directly from the tax office.
I can’t complete the payment process – what should I do?
First, check whether you have confirmed your registered email address. This step is often overlooked at the beginning, especially if you’re already deep in the question flow. Check your inbox (including spam) for the confirmation email. Confirm your address, refresh your browser if necessary, and try again.
What happens after the tax assessment?
You’ll receive your tax assessment by post from the tax office or digitally in your ELSTER inbox.
If you disagree with the result or something is unclear, you can file an objection within one month. To do so, it’s important to carefully understand and review your tax assessment.
