What is the Prefilled Tax Return?
The tax office stores various data electronically transmitted by employers and insurance providers, such as salary details and insurance contributions. You can automatically transfer this data into your tax return—without filling out additional forms.
💡 Important: The prefill feature works with an activation code. Once you enter this code, Taxfix retrieves your data directly from the tax office.
Does it Cost Anything to Use?
No, the prefill feature is completely free.
How Can I Use the Prefill Feature?
You can request prefill directly in the Taxfix app. The tax office will then send you an activation code by post. Use this code to activate prefill in the app. Once your data is available, you can start your tax return.

Can I Correct the Financial Office Data?

Can I Add Additional Expenses?
Yes! Any expenses not stored at the tax office—such as work-related costs or medical expenses—can be manually entered in the app.
Does Prefill Work for Joint Tax Filings?
Yes, you can use prefill for a joint tax return. The process for requesting and activating it is similar to an individual filing.
❗ Important: Each partner must request prefill separately and will receive their own activation code by post. Once both codes are available, you can enter them in the Taxfix app.
Can I Use Prefill If I Have Already Started My Tax Return?
If you have already started working on your tax return, you cannot use prefill for that year. However, it is available for other tax years. To use prefill, activate it in the app. When you start a new tax return, you will be able to prefill it with tax office data.
Does Prefill Affect Already Submitted Tax Returns?
No, prefill does not impact tax returns that you have already submitted. The tax office will process them as usual.
Can I Cancel Prefill?

How Secure is Prefill?
Taxfix complies with all European and German data protection regulations. Prefill uses the official ELSTER interface from the tax offices. Your data is used solely for your tax return and processed according to our privacy policy.
